Sermon Response Guide

Guia del Sermon en Espanol

PRIMARY SCRIPTURE:
Proverbs 23:22-26 ESV

22 Listen to your father who gave you life,
    and do not despise your mother when she is old.
23 Buy truth, and do not sell it;
    buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding.
24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice;
    he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.
25 Let your father and mother be glad;
    let her who bore you rejoice.
26 My son, give me your heart,
    and let your eyes observe my ways.

Key Points

Wise households are devoted to:
1) Truth
How can we design our homes to embrace and extend the gospel? We are sent out from our homes more than anywhere else in life – even more than the church.
2) Rejoicing
What can we do to better cultivate joy in our households? For there to be joy in our homes, there must be an absence of fear.
3) One another
How can we rebuild trust where it’s been lost in our homes and families? Maybe God wants to use us – whatever our home life looks like – to be family to someone outside our household.

Memory Verse

Ask God to write this word on your heart this week:
“Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
-2 Corinthians 13:11 ESV

Pray

Lord, thank you that even when we are not devoted to the truth, rejoicing, or one another, you always are. Holy Spirit, you are our Teacher who leads us into all truth. Father God, you rejoice over us with singing. Jesus, while we were living as your enemies, you chose to call us your friends. You promised never to leave us or forsake us, and to be with us always – even to the end. Thank you, Lord. Help us to live and love like you.
