Dependent Prayer

This message from Luke 18:9–14 reminds us that prayer begins with dependence on God, not confidence in ourselves. Through the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, Jesus contrasts self-righteousness with humble repentance, revealing that God honors the heart that recognizes its need for mercy.
In a culture that values achievement and self-sufficiency, this passage challenges us to approach God with honesty and humility rather than comparison or performance. True spiritual maturity is not found in relying more on ourselves, but in growing deeper in our dependence on God’s grace.
As we examine our own hearts, we are invited to come before God not with a list of accomplishments, but with trust in His mercy. This message calls us to rediscover prayer as a posture of surrender, where grace transforms us from the inside out.
