Questions for Reflection

Take time to reflect and respond to these questions on your own in the presence of the Holy Spirit, or with trusted friends or family members:

1: Before today, how did you define “kindness?” What about now? How has your understanding of kindness shifted after today?

2: Why should God’s kindness lead us to repentance?

3: If Jesus is the Good Samaritan, what do you learn about Jesus? What do you learn about yourself?

4: If Jesus is the Good Portion, what do you learn about Jesus? What do you learn about yourself?

5: What do the Good Samaritan story and the Martha and Mary story have to do with each other?

6: Which is more difficult for you: being a neighbor or being with Jesus? Why do you think that is?

7: What step(s) do you need to take this week to embrace the kindness of Jesus and extend his kindness to your neighbor?

Pray

Lord, each of us have been stripped, beaten, and left for dead by the ways of this world. We confess we often feel helpless and alone. But Lord, you come to us with fresh mercies every morning. You see us hurting, and you bring us healing. Each day you carry us in your arms. Your kindness is calling us home. Help us embrace your kindness and help us extend your kindness. May your kindness always lead us to repentance.
