Sermon Response Guide En Español

PRIMARY SCRIPTURE:Titus 3:1 – 9

Key Points

  • Not one of us is good
  •  Only God is good
  • God draws us near, grafts us in, and makes us good
  • God spurs us on to be good and do good in response to his goodness

Memory Verse

Ask God to write this word on your heart this week:

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
-Ephesians 2:10

Questions for Reflection

Take time to reflect and respond to these questions on your own in the presence of the Holy Spirit, or with trusted friends or family members:

1: What passions and pleasures are misguiding you away from God’s goodness for you and others, and toward destruction for you and others?

2: What lies have you been believing about yourself lately?

3: What lies have you been believing about others?

4: What do you think Jesus would say if you told him the lies you have been believing about yourself and others?

*Note: This does not have to be hypothetical. Go ahead – take time to take it all to Jesus in prayer. Wait and see what truth he reveals to you by his Holy Spirit. This is a good time to read Titus 3:1 – 9 again.

5: Think about how God draws us near, brings us close, and grafts us into himself and his family as he richly pours out his Holy Spirit on us through Jesus Christ, our Savior (Titus 3:4 – 7). Why is it significant that God “richly” pours out his Holy Spirit on us?

6: What does it mean to “be ready for every good work,” (Titus 3:1)?

7: Read 2 Timothy 2:21 – 23. What practical steps can you take this week to be ready for every good work, which God prepared in advance for you to do (Ephesians 2:10)?

Pray

Lord, thank you for your goodness. At your very core, you are good. Always. We confess the enemy is relentless in his attempts to make us believe you are anything less than good, and sometimes, we forget your goodness. But Lord, regardless of how it may seem on the surface, you never cease to be good to us. Help us to cling to your goodness. Help us to pursue your goodness. Help us to be good to one another as you have been so good to us.
