Ministry Strategy: Connect
Throughout our lives, human beings develop important rhythms and habits based on what we truly value. A church is no different! Our strategy is simply a blueprint for practically living out what matters to us as a church. It is a model, not a mandate; a charter, not a checklist. By participating consistently in these liturgies as a church family, we believe God will bring us closer together in faith and purpose. Here, we’ll focus on just one aspect of our ministry strategy: Connect.
What do we mean by “Connect” and what are CONNECT groups?
Our greatest desire is for PCBC to be a place of genuine connection—connection to a community of believers and to a God who has created us to flourish through a vulnerable and authentic relationship with Him. We believe in fostering this connection through meeting regularly to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God and to simply share life together.
A CONNECT group is simply a smaller community of PCBC members (20-150) who share something in common (age, life season, topical interest, etc.) and desire to follow Jesus every day through meeting regularly for Bible study, fellowship, service, and support.
Why are CONNECT groups important?
CONNECT groups are foundational to strengthening the bonds of relationship that hold any large family together. Through meeting consistently for worship, study, prayer, and fellowship, CONNECT groups serve as a familiar home base for all members to grow in faith and knowledge alongside others. Our goal is for every single PCBC member to find a community to grow and thrive in as we seek to follow Jesus every day . . . together. In short, CONNECT groups are the very best way to experience the warmth and familiarity of an intimate group within the context of a large church family. We are so much stronger together than we are alone.
How do I make CONNECT groups a part of my life now?
It’s simple: try one! Groups come in all shapes and sizes but are usually based on age, common experience, or stage of life. The majority of groups meet on Sunday mornings, but some convene during the week. It’s totally normal to visit several groups to see all that is offered at PCBC and to find the right fit for you!
What CONNECT has meant to PCBC member Anna Gill:
I’ve found those people who rejoice when I rejoice and mourn when I mourn in my CONNECT group. My whole family lives in a different state, so my CONNECT group has come to be my family here in Dallas.
They are the people I can call to celebrate the joys in life with. They are also the people I can call when life is hard. They challenge me to love the Lord deeply, to walk with Jesus daily.
We learn with each other in our CONNECT group and we learn from each other throughout the week as well. The teaching we experience Sunday mornings is just the beginning. We have so many conversations throughout the week in which we are thinking more about how to apply what God is teaching us into our daily walks with Him.
Having people who are also committed to following Jesus every day in your life is such an encouragement.
I really cannot imagine my life without my CONNECT group family.
I love being a part of a multi-generational church. Seeing people from all walks of life, worshipping alongside one another is a great reminder of how the Lord works in every stage of life.
