Whatever you value will drive what you do. Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21. Where your heart is, there you are. You can claim to value something but your attention, time, and money will reveal your values.
What drives us as God’s people is so critical. Values get to the question of “why?” God is very interested, not only in what we do, but why we do it. In any organization, any church, there are inherent values that drive the organization. Some values may be stated but the inherent values (the treasures that are deeply held on to) is what drives the hearts of the people. It’s been said that, “culture eats strategy for breakfast”. In other words, if our culture, our hearts, my heart, is not motivated by love, then all I do is motivated by something else.
PCBC is driven first by the boundless Gospel and inexhaustible grace that follows, we will never be the Church God has called us to be. We will look too at Overflowing Generosity, Courageous Innovation, and Relentless Urgency. “Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14, 1 John 4:7-12 speaks of love that is from God and seen in our lives. 1 Corinthians 13 shows us how love is expressed through the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives.
