“Do not take the Lord’s name in vain” - Making the Reverent Irreverent

Jun 17, 2018 | Dr. Jeff Warren

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold Him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” Exodus 20:7

Don’t “empty” God of His glory- by making trivial what He has established as holy and significant. We do this when we treat the things of God- His name and His ways as insignificant. When we live our lives without taking Him into account or without following the truth of his Word, we take his name (His character, His essence) “in vain”, making the reverent irreverent.

Dads: Are you honoring the Name of the Lord in all you do? Are you holding His name up as Holy, Just, and loving in your home? Are you displaying the character of God as Father in your home? A father receives “reverence”, respect, honor, and leadership when he reveres God above all else.
