Sermon Response Guide

Guia del Sermon en Espanol

PRIMARY SCRIPTURE: Acts 4:1-31

Key Points

  • All that matters is Jesus because in him you find your:
    1)    Purpose (making much of Jesus)
    2)    Identity (belonging to Jesus)
    3)    Peace (being with Jesus)

Memory Verse

Ask God to write this word on your heart this week:

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12 ESV

Questions for Reflection

Take time to reflect and respond to these questions on your own in the presence of the Holy Spirit, or with trusted friends or family members:

1: What is the purpose of your life?

2: Without a clear purpose, distractions in life come in the form of opportunities. What have you given yourself to lately that is distracting you from your God-given purpose?

3: What is your identity? At your core, who are you?

4: What we do flows out of who we are. How has your identity in Christ been reflected in what you have chosen to do lately?

5: Where do you go looking for peace, or when do you feel most at peace?

6: If Jesus is our center, we will remain at peace. If Jesus is your center, what keeps him there? If Jesus is not your center, what do you think is standing in his place?

7: Do you really believe Jesus is all that matters? Why or why not? How does your life demonstrate the reality of your belief?

8: How is God inviting you to respond to what the Holy Spirit has written on your heart today?

Pray

Lord, we confess we have made much of so much besides you. Open our eyes and renew our minds to see you are all that really matters in life. Lord, we are not seeking to disregard everything and everyone but you. Rather, in everything we do, and everyone we are with, we desire to seek you first. Lord Jesus, be the center of our lives. Help us to live with a constant awareness of your presence. You are with us always – may the same be said of us.
