Summer Food + Clothing Drive

Summer Food + Clothing Drive

Every Tuesday, from 05/04/2021 to 05/18/2021, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Let's finish the school year strong by filling the truck with food and clothes for our friends in South Texas!

Hundreds of small rural communities, called Colonias, exist along the Rio Grand Valley and most live in temporary housing and in impoverished conditions. These mothers, fathers and children are the very poorest in our country and have endured great difficulty due to the COVID-19 crisis and February’s extreme winter weather. Over the past year, they've endured many great losses: the loss of life, income sources and access to education. Our friends need help as they prepare for summer and children are out of school for three months.

Below is a list of basic items we will be collecting on May 4, 11 and 18 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. at the Missions House (corner of Pickwick and Villanova):

  • Clothing for ALL ages (infants, toddlers, youth and adults)
  • Nonperishable food items: bags of bean & rice and Canned food
  • Nonperishable snack items: granola bars, energy drinks, veggie sticks, fruit snacks, etc…). These snacks will be made into food boxes for students at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley who struggle with food insecurity.
  • School Supplies for elementary-aged children and teenagers

PCBC ministry partner, Hearts4Kids and the Baptist Student Ministry at UTRGV will distribute items throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
