The New Year brings with it a palpable a sense of hope and excitement for what’s ahead. New habits. New opportunities. New relationships. As we push forward into what God has for us in 2018, let’s take a moment to remember our roots, our lifeblood—the below-the-surface forces that nourish us, ground us, and offer the promise of new life.
Our Mission: What Defines Us
Our task as believers permeates our mission as a church:
Rescuing one another from cultural Christianity to follow Jesus every day. (Colossians 1:13-14)
Our Values: What Guides Us
Our values are simply how our beliefs about God, the world, and one another are lived out. They enable us to order our time, talent, resources, and passions in a way that glorifies God and blesses people.
God’s love for his people is unstoppable. It moves beyond our boundaries, conventions, and expectations. It is a gift of grace that rescues and changes us, directing our motivation and our love towards God and the task of building His Kingdom.
God’s love for his people is unlimited. Grace enables us to love our neighbors without condition or limitation. It frees us to love others extravagantly, even (and especially) our enemies.
God’s love for his people is abundant and free. It liberates us from holding back or clinging to what we have, knowing that God intends us to use His gifts to share the Gospel with the world. We practice radical generosity not to earn God’s love, but because we already have it.
God’s love for his people is compelling. Knowing that all life is fragile and temporary humbles us and brings new weight to our decisions, how we treat others, and how we choose to invest our time. The Gospel is life to a dying world; we will use every moment we have to share it widely and without delay.
God’s love for his people creates life and beauty. He is a dynamic and creative God who has spoken to his people throughout time in history in a myriad of ways. While the message of the Gospel never changes, our methods of communication and application must remain nimble and intentional in an ever-changing world.
Our Strategy: What Drives Us
Our strategy is simply a blueprint for practically living out what matters to us as a church. By participating consistently in these liturgies as a church family, we believe God will bring us closer together in faith and purpose.
We encourage all members to join us every Sunday morning for one of our three services where we share in corporate prayer, songs of worship, and a powerful preaching message.
Connection happens when we actively engage in what God is already doing in the world. At PCBC we use CONNECT groups to help people get plugged in to an intimate community of people they can grow and learn with during the week. Groups are formed by a common interest, age, season of life, or specific area of need. As a larger part of our ministry strategy, it means to:
- Connect to God's Word through study and application
- Connect with other believers through meaningful relationships
- Connect with opportunities to serve the church and community
