The Bible defines “church” as a group of people who are “called out.” The church is not a building or a denomination, but people who have put their faith in Jesus Christ. There is also a distinction between the universal Church and the local church. The universal Church are all believers throughout the world who have trusted Christ alone for their salvation. The local church is the visible group of believers in a specific location - who may or may not all be members of the universal Church.
This October, PCBC turns 80 years old and we are celebrating our birthday throughout the fall! We’re also celebrating what God is currently doing in and through our church family - in our communities, throughout Dallas, and around the world. We are seeking to become what Jesus envisioned His church to be and we are looking ahead into the coming year, the decade ahead, and the next 80 years to come. The church is enduring, advancing, and prevailing, all to the glory of God.
Our guiding verses for this series:
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18
“And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as Head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” - Ephesians 1:22-23
