Transition Update

Dear Church Family,

As we move through the transition after the departure of Dr. Denison, I wanted to provide you with another update on several matters related to the process before us and other transition matters.  We are following the process set out in our Constitution to begin a search for a new Senior Pastor of Teaching.  In each step, we seek the Lord's direction and will through prayer with the help of several members of the Body using a committee process.

The first step in our process was completed earlier this month when a Senior Pastor Study Committee confirmed after prayerful review that we should proceed with the search process.  That committee was chaired by Deborah Sutton and the other committee members were Angela Bowman, Greg Boyd, Larry Byrd and Ken Holden.  A copy of their report will be posted on the transition page on the church's website.

The next step in the process is to solicit nominations from the church for the actual search committee.  Nomination forms are being distributed through the weekly Connect bulletins each Sunday and via the website and will be gathered through Sunday, March 29th.  A nominating committee will evaluate the nominations and submit a proposed search committee to the church for its consideration and approval.  The Nominating Committee is composed of Bob Brooks, Brian Hamilton, Elizabeth Mills, Fred Pendleton, Carla Robinson, and Becky Shewchuk.  I will chair this committee myself.  If you would like to recommend someone to serve on the search committee, after you have prayed for the Lord's direction, please use one of the forms to submit their name in the offering plate or to the church office, or use the link provided on the church's website.

We continue to be blessed by outstanding teaching in both the Sanctuary and the Great Hall.  The Transition Committee has arranged for additional speakers in the Sanctuary over the next few months, including: David Garland, Dean of Truett Seminary and Interim President of Baylor (March 22); Ken Hall, President of Buckner International (March 29); the musical Savior will be presented on April 5; Miller Cunningham (April 12; Easter); Reggie McNeal (April 19); Albert Reyes, President of Children and Family Services for Buckner International (April 26); and, on May 3, all 3 services in the Sanctuary, Great Hall and the Amigos de Dios service in the Gym will be connected via video with Miller, Pike and Sam Silva all speaking after Ministry Day.  We will continue to update you on other upcoming speakers as well.

The Lord is continuing to bless and lead His church.  Please pray for the Lord's protection of the church and for us to follow His faithful leadership.
