Current Class Study
We welcome you! Beginning in May, we have started studying Philippians, a book about Christ in our life, Christ in our mind, Christ as our goal, Christ as our strength, and joy through suffering. It was written during Paul’s imprisonment in Rome, about thirty years after Christ’s ascension and about ten years after Paul first preached at Philippi.
Philippians is Paul’s happiest letter. And the happiness is infectious. Before we’ve read a dozen lines, we begin to feel the joy ourselves—the dance of words and the exclamations of delight have a way of getting inside us.
Key Verses:
Philippians 1:21 : “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Philippians 3:7: “But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ."
Philippians 4:4: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:13: “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
Our study format is to begin class with informal introductions and visiting, followed by sharing of praises and prayer requests, and then the Bible Study. For Philippians, we are watching a video and then having open discussion on what we heard and how it applies to our lives. This is an exciting study and we invite you to join us!
