Finding Freedom in Christ
Sadly, much of the history of religion is marked by manipulation and control. It’s little wonder that those who have only known religion on such terms describe their release or escape from it as “freedom.” In the First Century, the apostle Paul, who had only known this kind of religion, wrote a letter to a series of churches in the province of Galatia. His own liberating experience with Christ drove him to write this letter with great passion and clarity. In this letter, we call the book of Galatians, he described the danger of turning Christianity into yet another religion and how Christ followers can guard against doing so. Christ came to set us free. Politics, education, behavior modification, not even religion, can provide the freedom Christ can bring. In this summer series of messages we’ll walk through the book of Galatians and discover the liberating power of Christ and how to live in the freedom that only He can bring.
