Report of Pastor Study Committee

March 4, 2009

On February 25, 2009 and March 4, 2009, the five committee members met, with Chairman of the Fellowship of Deacons David Harper attending as an ex officio member, and after deliberations and discussion, unanimously adopted the following resolution:

Whereas, the Committee has

• reviewed Article V of the Constitution and Bylaws of Park Cities Baptist Church, which provides that "This Church shall have one or more Senior Level Pastors, each feeling called of God as His undershepherd"
• reviewed the responsibility of the Pastor Study Committee as specified in the Constitution and Bylaws of Park Cities Baptist Church
• considered the reasons that the Constitution and Bylaws were amended to permit the call and election of more than one Senior Level Pastor by the Church
• considered the manner in which the dual Senior Pastor structure was implemented and has operated during the last three years
• considered the great things God has accomplished through the ministries of the PCBC body during the period that  Jim Denison and Miller Cunningham served as dual Senior Pastors
• considered the benefits and challenges of both the dual Senior Pastor structure and the sole Senior Pastor structure
• confirmed Miller Cunningham's confidence in his original and current call from God to serve PCBC as one of His undershepherds; and

Whereas, if a search is instituted by a Pastor Search Committee, God will lead in His perfect time to the person that He has already selected to serve as an additional undershepherd of our Church family; and

Whereas the Committee believes that God has a great plan for our Church and is already moving to provide PCBC with all the resources needed to fulfill His will, including an additional Senior Level Pastor with extraordinary gifts in teaching, preaching and such other pastoral gifts as God may have granted to him.

Therefore, it is resolved that the Pastor Study Committee recommends that the Chairman of Deacons initiate the procedure for selection of a Pastor Search Committee, as described in Article V of the Constitution and Bylaws of PCBC .
