Prayer Tools
For actively spending time alone in prayer
What is prayer?
Prayer is communication and communion with God.
Why pray?
To develop my relationship and intimacy with Christ.
Suggestions on How to Begin
- Choose a time
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35 “Pray continually" 1 Thessalonians 5.17
- Choose a place
“And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.” Luke 22:39
- Choose a plan
A. Use the ACTS acrostic
Adoration: Praise Him for who He is. Don’t ask Him for anything, just praise Him. “In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.” Psalm 44:8
Confession: Recognize His holiness and you confess your sin to Him. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Thanksgiving: Thank Him for what He’s done. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4
Supplication: Intercession for yourself and others “May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise.” Psalm 119:170 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
B. Pray the Lord’s Prayer using it as a model for all your prayers.

Seek God’s provision

Give us this day our daily bread (KJV)
Seek God’s forgiveness

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors (KJV)
Seek God’s leadership
