Special Interest Prayer Groups

Sunday Bible Study Prayer Leaders

Our hope and prayer is for every member and visitor to find a “home” in a Sunday School class or PCBC small group.  Sunday Bible study fulfills important needs - people have the chance to read and learn about the Bible in a systematic and relevant way and Bible study groups are a way to connect with, care for and communicate to every person in the church.

Purpose
To facilitate prayer within the Bible study group by keeping prayer a priority among class members.

Background

Is anyone among you in trouble?  Let them pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let them sing songs of praise.  Is anyone among you sick?  Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.   And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.  If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:13-16

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.  Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Ephesians 6:18-20

Service
Sunday Bible Study prayer time should be flexible to meet the needs of the class and to enhance the overall spiritual environment and growth of the class. Each class should decide on its own format to facilitate prayer among its members.

Class members have the privilege to pray for others’ personal and public prayer requests, thus experiencing and expressing love and concern for others that those outside the body of Christ may never experience.

Worship Service Intercessors

Worship is our chance to express our love for God and receive encouragement and guidance for our daily lives.  It is at the heart of everything at Park Cities Baptist Church. True worship is a dynamic encounter with the Living God.

Purpose
To intercede on behalf of the pastor, worship team and people attending the services. To pray specifically that hearts and ears will open to the preached Word.

Background

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Service
Worship Service Intercessors commit to pray during their attendance in one of the Sunday worship services.  They pray and stand in the gap to provide a spiritual covering as they themselves participate in worship.

Meeting
Tuesday, October 4th, Ellis Parlor, 6:30 pm

Commissioning Team

The PCBC missions ministry exists to engage our church family in ministries beyond our campus that accomplish God’s commission to make disciples of all nations.

It is vital to have the larger church body informed and involved in missions awareness for prayer support.

Purpose
To empower missions team members through prayers and blessings before they leave on mission and to offer them up to the Lord for His protection and guidance during their journey.

Background

Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. Acts 13:1-3

Service
Members of the Commissioning Team provide specialized prayer support for each missions team as requested.

The Prayer Room

The Prayer Room is designed for intercessors to pray over submitted prayer requests one designated hour each week either on campus or online.

Purpose
To bring another person or circumstance before God in prayer that desperately needs God’s intervention.

Background

These I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.  Ephesians 6:18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Isaiah 56:7
