Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care Ministry is concerned with expressing the love of Jesus as he would express his love to those with emotional, psychological, physical health, and spiritual needs. It is our responsibility to extend a personal touch to meet these needs, to promote a caring concern within the body of Christ at Park Cities, and to provide professional resources that address needs of those within the body of believers and those in our community.

The Pastoral Care Ministry provides:

  • Ministry to those who are ill, either in local hospitals, at home or in care facilities.
  • Ministry with those who are bereaved, by providing funeral/memorial services.
  • Counseling resources and referrals to those with special counseling needs.
  • Ministries such as grief support, cancer support, etc.
  • “Living with Loss” Grief Support Group

"Living with Loss" Grief Support Group

This grief support group offers hope and help for anyone who is experiencing the pain and sorrow of losing a loved one. When we are faced with such great loss, the question is not whether we will grieve, but how. Some of the most important spiritual and personal life work we will ever do is the work of grieving. "Living with Loss" explores the stories, emotions, questions, fears, and steps of faith that accompany the journey, believing that God is more than a God of surviving; He is a God of healing.

The group will be led by Verdell Davis Krisher, an author and conference speaker. Verdell's world took a dramatic turn when her husband, Creath, was killed in an airplane accident. God has taken this tragedy and turned it into an opportunity for Verdell to minister to hundreds of people worldwide. She is the author of Let Me Grieve, But Not Forever. She speaks at retreats, conferences, seminars, and churches of many denominations. She serves on several ministry boards, and has a heart for the broken and hurting. Verdell is married to Bill Krisher, who is in ministry with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has been a PCBC member since 1982.

You may know someone who is hurting because of the death of someone close to them. Tell them about "Living with Loss" support group. By doing so, you may be an important part of their healing.
