The Birth of the New Testament
Dr. Todd D. Still, who has taught numerous LifeTime classes over the years, will return to Park Cities to teach a four-week study on 1 Thessalonians, probably Paul's earliest surviving letter and seemingly, therefore, the most ancient of all of the New Testament documents. Dr. Still will commence his study by considering various introductory matters pertaining to the letter and by treating 1 Thessalonians 1:1-2:16. In subsequent weeks, he will examine 1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:13; 4:1-18; and 5:1-28 respectively. Come discover the treasure that is the letter of 1 Thessalonians.

SHOW
Poverty Simulation Workshop
The poverty simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. It is a simulation, not a game. The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people. In the simulation, participants assume the roles of up to 26 different families facing poverty. Some are newly unemployed, some are recently deserted by the “breadwinner”, and others are recipients of temporary assistance for needy families either with or without additional earned income. Others are disabled or are senior citizens receiving Social Security. The task of the “families” is to provide for basic necessities and shelter during the course of four 15-minute “weeks”. The experience will last for two hours. It includes an introduction and briefing, the actual simulation exercise, and a debriefing period in which participants and volunteer staffers share their reactions and experiences. For more information contact Lorri Lamberth at lblamberth@pcbc.org or 972.835.8967.
Date: January 25th
Time: 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
