Minister to College Students
The Park Cities Baptist Church College Ministry is a community of college aged students learning how to follow Jesus every day. Like the larger body of believers at Park Cities, our efforts to pursue Christ on a daily basis revolve around four principles:
Our college ministry worships together with the rest of the Park Cities family on Sunday mornings in one of the five different services. Usually, we worship together in the 9:15 hour in order to spend the 10:45 hour in the College Ministry Connect Group.
After the 9:15 worship service on Sunday mornings, we spend time in our College Ministry Connect Group. This is a time when our college students can get to know college students from other campuses or spend time in community with known friends. The Connect Group is where we spend time discussing what Scripture teaches, and how God is asking us to apply the same Scripture to our everyday lives. Our purpose in this time is to connect and grow in our relationship with God, while connecting and growing in relationship with other college-aged friends.
On Wednesday nights, we meet at SMU for a gathering called "The Hill."The Hill is a time we hope students from all walks of life feel welcomed. We spend our time by sharing a meal together, answering real-life, tough questions, and praying together. The Hill meets during the school year at SMU.
Each month, our college ministry serves at Exodus Ministry on Wednesday nights. College students are asked to provide quality time with young children, ranging in age from five months to thirteen years old. By spending quality time once a month with these children, we are able to aid the staff at Exodus while also serving as role models for these young children.
We hope that our faith journey with Jesus does not stop with these three previous principles. Ultimately, we are called to invite others into experiencing the joy of knowing Jesus Christ. This often happens through mentoring, meals, sharing our faith with others and our rapidly multiplying small groups known as GO Groups. Our desire as a College Ministry is to take seriously the Great Commission of Jesus to go forth and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:16-20).
