Dr. Jim Denison came to Park Cities Baptist Church in June, 1998 as Senior Pastor and presently serves as Pastor of Teaching. He and his wife, Janet, have two sons, Ryan and Craig.
Dr. Denison is passionate about helping others know and follow Jesus. He has done extensive work in apologetics, worldviews, and cultural studies. His examinations of historical evidences for Jesus, the Bible, and Christianity have been used in defusing various affronts to the faith, such as The Da Vinci Code.
He writes a daily devotional on cultural issues from a spiritual perspective, "God Issues Today," which is e-mailed each weekday to more than 10,000 subscribers all over the world. He is author of four books, The Bible--You Can Believe It: Biblical Authority in the Twenty-First Century; Myth and the Manger; Life on the Brick Pile: Answers to Suffering from the Letters of Revelation; and Seven Crucial Questions About the Bible. His weekly Sunday school commentaries are used by BaptistWay Press as an online teaching tool.
Dr. Denison has a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Dallas Baptist University. He teaches a Ph.D. seminar and Master of Arts in Christian Education class for DBU, where he serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is a teaching fellow for the B.H. Carroll Theological Institute, and serves on its Board of Governors. Dr. Denison has also served on the faculties of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Mercer University School of Theology.
