Hi Jeff! It's me, Leslie James, from high school! I was so thrilled to see your blog and find out what God has been doing with your life since 1979! My brother, Calvin, sent me the link. I love your comments about redeeming the arts for God. I remember that you have always been a great artist....God has gifted you in a wonderful way. I was amazed at your sand art video. The cool thing was that, while I was definitely impressed with your artistic ability, the thing that stood out was not you, but Jesus. What an awesome way to share Christ! God bless you, Jeff. And by the way, you have a beautiful family!

Jeff! Great to see you yesterday at the Pastor 2 Pastor conference! Really enjoyed your insights on vision and leadership! I retired from the Bible Study/Discipleship Division at the BGCT at the end of the year. They brought me back as the Congregational Strategist for Park Cities and the other churches in the Dallas area. I know you have a lot of BGCT people who are active at PCBC, but if I can ever be of help to you in any way, I hope you will let me know!! Park Cities has a very special place in my heart and has meant a great deal to me over the years! Thanks for the partnership we share and our common goal of bringing HOPE to the Dallas area, Texas and the world! Please know of my continued prayers for you and PCBC!

"Prayer is not getting beyond God’s reluctance; it is laying hold of His highest willingness."

Amen. And again....amen! Our perspective of Jesus' parable regarding the unjust judge often gives us the mistaken impression that prayer is our way of nagging God until He finally gives up and does what we ask Him to do just so we will leave Him alone. Oh, that we would latch onto the reality that our High Priest is ever living to intercede for us and that the Holy Spirit prays through us! We have the great favor of coming boldly before His throne to present our case before a judge who 1) asked us to come to Him in the first place and 2) is predisposed to rule in our favor. Most often our issue is simply learning to align with Him!

Pastor Jeff,
I'd like to comment about an article in the Sun Oct 9 Dallas Morning News p 18A in the article about Dallas' greatest generation of benefactors, as it aligns with the mission God has given you at PCBC. The gist is that many benefactors have died, and we need to connect with the next generation in order to develop future benefactors. At PCBC it is not about benefactors, but about bringing the message of Jesus Christ to this community and to the world. The people we want to connect with are the next generation.

I think it is important to note what the experts said, "The assumption that tempts the nonprofit world is one that corporations try to maintain but are unable; that is they they are entitled to perpetual existence in a perpetual market...Just as Chrysler or Apple or Hewlett-Packard have to continue to make a case for the next generation to be engaged with them, so too do particular nonprofits...nonprofits must do a better job of cultivating the newer generation." How well we know about companies which have gone belly-up when they have not made changes to appeal to today's generation using latest technology and which have resisted making changes to adapt to the different needs of the next gen.

Every profession is experiencing this and so must the church. Keep the core, absolutely, but the non-core must adapt. I can say that I am the old generation(baby boomer), so hopefully my comments are credible.
